WHAT DOES BYOC MEAN? WHAT ARE THE ‘LAN GAMING HALLS’?

BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer / Console) is a ticket-type for the Insomnia Gaming Festival, one which allows you to bring your PC or Console to the event for the weekend in order to connect to and game on our LAN.

A LAN or Local Area Network is the technical term for a whole bunch of computers connected over the same network; When Insomnia started back in 1999, the internet wasn’t as fast as it is today, so in order to get high-speed multiplayer gaming experiences players attended LAN events like ours. These days the internet has made playing multiplayer games online extremely easy, but many gamers still choose to attend LAN events for the social experience of 24/7 gaming alongside friends for the entire weekend.
